CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology(IMTECH) hosted a meeting for members affiliated to Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC).Dr Anil Koul, Director IMTECH briefed CRIKC members about the current mandate and thrust areas of IMTECHs research around Antibiotics, Virology, Human Microbiome and Biopharmaceuticals. Dr Koul also informed about 2 upcoming events in the form of Dr Paul Janssen TB Symposius on 17th August 2017 and Industry Academia meet from 4th-6TH October 2017. With regards to both the events , CRIKC members pledged their full support to IMTECH in what was seen as a major step towards making Chandigarh as an innovation and research hub across globe.
Mr Rajendra Srivastava, Dean, Indian School of Business gave his insights from management perspective on innovation, IP aggregation and management, industry relations and product launch strategies for various startups and new innovation centres.
Dr Jatinder Kaur Arora, Executive Director, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology(PSCST), will facilitate and give a thrust to J&Js collaboration in Chandigarh where next small meeting will be organized soon.
Prof Arun Grover, VC, Panjab University suggested to bring representatives of all incubator hubs on a common platform spread across Chandigarh region and address their concerns, innovate their business models in order to synergize their efficiencies. ISB would then pitch in on some of the ideas which have been incubated successfully at these centres and would try to take them to an industry level.
Student council of Panjab University will conduct and coordinate for students participation for a programme on entrepreneurship/innovation/start ups on 30th July 2017 to be held in PU campus. Best ideas selected from the programme would then be forwarded to ISB for mentorship and further development.
