The two day National Convention of War Decorated India (WDI) began in Manekshaw Auditorium in Chandimandir in HQ Western Command. Some living gallantary award winners and relatives of the deceased awardees attended the Convention. Next of kin, relatives of the awardees were felicitated today.

Among Victoria Cross awardees the relatives of Late Nb Sub Nand Singh (Sikh Regt), Late Sub Ram Sarup Singh (1 Punjab) and Late Badlu Ram (cavalry) were felicitated.

Among PVC awardees the relatives of Late Col Hoshiar Singh (Grenadiers) and Late Sub Joginder singh (Sikh Regt) were felicitated.

Among MVC awardees the relatives of Late Brig NS Sandhu (Dogra), Late Brig KS Chandpuri (Punjab Regt), Late Lt Gen Gowry Shankar (Signals), late Lt Ved Prakash Trehan (Rajputana Rifles), Late Sep Anusuya Prasad (Mahar Regt) and Late Porter Mr Mohammed Ismail (Punjab Regt Civillian Porter) were felicitated. And many Vir chakra awardees were also felicitated.

Chief of Staff western Command Lt Gen PN Bali addressed the Convention. He said the serving military men draw inspiration from such brave hearts who fought valiantly for motherland and many of them laid down their life.
