The two day Conference AIDSCON-8 towards AIDS Free World successfully concluded today. The Conference was organized by Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society.
Mrs. Lippi Parida wife of Advisor to Administrator and Dr. G. Dewan, DHS, Chandigarh Administration give away awards to the best performing workers implementing the National AIDS Control Programme in Chandigarh.
During this Conference a total of 10 technical sessions were conducted which included IEC & mainstreaming, blood safety, clinical CME, Newer Strategies, Revamping and Re-Strategizing Targeted Intervention Programme, Psychosocial Issues Syndemics, Reaching the 3rd 90 of 90-90-90, and Second Generation Prevention and Care.
More than 70 experts made their presentations and participated in panel discussions. Representative from Global Partners like UNAIDS, WHO, India HIV/AIDS Alliance, AIDS Society of India, FHI360, Hamsafar Trust, CHAI, SAATHII etc. also shared their experiences. The Representatives of the High Risk Groups of TG, Sex Workers, Drug Users and MSM opened their hearts and urged that Mental Health Care be introduced in the program as all were still grappling with some, though minor Stigma.
More than 500 people participated in this Two Days Conference including Doctors, Researchers, Students, Interns and also people from various State AIDS Control Societies and Technical Support Units.
The National Conference with the goal “AIDS Free World” was launched yesterday by the Advisor to the Administrator Sh. Manoj Kumar Parida IAS, Principal Secretary Health Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta IAS and Joint Secretary Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Govt. of India New Delhi.
The deliberations being held during the Conference will go a long way in ending HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2030.
