To help the industry tide over initial teething problems about implementation of the Goods and Services Tax, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing a training program on 12 July 2017 on Decoding GST at CII Northern Region Headquarters, Chandigarh.
Apart from Government of India experts, senior Tax officials from Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh have also been invited to address issues like invoicing, first filing, refunds, etc. CII had organized more than 100 sessions across the country prior to the launch of GST to prepare the Industry for the upcoming challenges in the new regime. This will be the first day workshop post the launch of GST. CII has also started a GST help desk, through which industry members can seek clarification on GST related issues.
Mr Rajesh Saboo, Chairman, CII HP State Council said, “The historic launch of GST on 1 July, while throwing open a lot of opportunities for businesses have also brought about disruptions in businesses. Even the units that were well prepared for GST feel there are grey areas that need clarification like invoicing, first filing, and transfer of goods and revision of pricing of existing stocks.
Mr IMJS Sidhu, Vice Chairman, CII HP State Council, said, “As in the case of any big-ticket reform, there are bound to be teething troubles and initial hiccups which should be overcome with a positive outlook for GST to be truly successful, hence Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in order to address immediate concern of businesses and cater to the needs of Industry personnel to understand and operate effectively under the new regime of GST, is organizing a full day Workshop on GST: IMPACT & EFFECTS on Wednesday, 12 July 2017 in Chandigarh. CII feels that such an initiative is a need of the hour and will help industry members resolve operational issues as also plan for the future.
